About us

Cocoa Puzzles

Cocoa Puzzles was established in fall 2020 to address the underrepresentation of BIPOC characters in children's jigsaw puzzles. As Brooklyn's first Black-owned/Caribbean jigsaw puzzle company, we've built our brand on inclusive design and environmental responsibility.

Our puzzle collections feature sustainably sourced materials, including recycled cardboard and FSC-certified wood, making them suitable for family and classroom settings. While our puzzles engage learners of all ages, they're specifically designed for children ages 4–10. Since our founding, we've expanded our offerings to include paint kits and sensory products, alongside hands-on STEM workshops that bring creative learning directly to children and educators.

Artist/Founder

Putrice Thomas is a mother, artist, and visionary inspired by her daughter's curiosity. She created Cocoa Puzzles to empower children through creative play and meaningful learning.

Every puzzle celebrates individuality and helps kids develop a strong sense of identity. Putrice designed each product to encourage discovery, foster diversity in thinking, and remind families that learning together builds confidence and creativity.

Through art on her puzzles, sensory play, and STEM crafts, Putrice hopes to inspire young minds to dream big, build brave, and create freely—one puzzle piece at a time.
